Virtuele winkeltour met Google Cardboard

De Hogeschool van Amsterdam (HvA) heeft naar eigen zeggen de eerste virtuele tour door een winkel ontwikkeld met Google Cardboard. In zes scènes ‘wandelen’ belangstellenden in 3D door de byAMFI Statement Store. De Google Cardboard is een kartonnen houder die je smartphone omtovert tot Virtual Reality-bril.

Beleving wordt voor winkels en musea steeds belangrijker om klanten te trekken en te binden. Maar online mis je eigenlijk die fysieke beleving. Deze virtuele tour maakt het nu mogelijk om online een levensechte ervaring mee te krijgen, zeggen de initiatiefnemers.

Sinds juni 2014 is Virtual Reality voor het grote publiek toegankelijk met Google Cardboard, een spotgoedkope VR-bril van karton die van je telefoon een bril maakt. De app erachter splitst het scherm in tweeën, waardoor je diepte ziet in het beeld.

De byAMFI Statement Store aan het Spui van de Hogeschool van Amsterdam is de eerste winkel wereldwijd die deze techniek nu inzet, zodat potentiële klanten op afstand kunnen beleven hoe het is om in de winkel te zijn.

De oplossing is er nu alleen voor Android. Begin 2015 wordt de tour binnenkort ook beschikbaar voor iPhone.

Het lectoraat Crossmedia van de HvA heeft meegewerkt aan het ontwikkelen van de virtuele tour. De app is mede mogelijk gemaakt vanuit het Amsterdam Creative Industries Network, een netwerk dat kennis ontwikkelt over creatieve toepassingen van disruptieve technologie (nieuwe technologie die voor iedereen toegankelijk is).
